The Name: What Does “Foursquare” Mean?
The name "Foursquare" represents the unchanging ministry of Jesus Christ and our global mission to proclaim it. The four squares symbolize His four scriptural roles: Jesus as the Savior, the Baptizer with the Holy Spirit, the Healer, and the Soon-Coming King.
As a denomination, The Foursquare Church has a unique history that stems from missions and evangelism. It began as a powerful evangelistic movement and spread throughout the nations to become the global family it is today.
We live in exciting days to see the church expand rapidly across the world. There are more than 68,500 Foursquare churches in 150 countries around the world, who gather every weekend under trees or in large buildings to worship the God of the nations. There is a great opportunity in front of us to influence nations and generations for the kingdom of God.
Mission:
To make disciples who live by the truths of the Foursquare Gospel. The mission of the Foursquare church stands on the firm foundation of the Great Commission given by Jesus to his disciples in Matthew 28. The goal is not just to make converts, but to make disciples who not only believe, but live by the truths that Jesus is our Saviour, Healer, Baptizer with the Holy Spirit and soon-coming King.
Vision:
To see an expanding network of healthy Foursquare churches, led by servant-hearted pastors, and filled with growing believers who actively share their faith. We plant new churches to introduce people to Jesus and spread His gospel effectively. Healthy churches create the best environment for discipleship. Our pastors serve and lead by example, following Jesus' model of servant leadership. Believers continuously grow in faith and Christlikeness, recognizing that following Jesus is a journey. They share their faith, driven by His heart for the lost, using their own stories to introduce others to Him.
